Melinda Crider

Melinda Crider is known for using a local Georgia clay body to make figurative sculpture and functional pottery.Crider hand builds her figures and uses underglazes, slips, washes, stains, and sometimes beeswax to create the detailed surfaces. Cider?s work may be fired multiple times to achieve the final surface. Her vessels are also hand built, and are decorated with patterning, textures, and multiple glazes.

Originally trained as a painter and sculptor, Crider studied clay during her apprenticeship at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Her sculptures are influenced by childhood memories.
