Elaine Carhartt

Elaine Carhartt is known for tile murals and figurative sculpture. On occasion, she produces functional wares. Tile works are most often slab built and painted, featuring a variety of brightly colored scenes and figures. Functiona lworks often feature patterning. Carhartt's figurative sculptures are most often hand built, and are adorned with traditional clothing, likely from a foreign source. Her sculptures are often free standing. Glaze decoration across Carhartt's three bodies of work is motivated by her interest in the ceramic art of Turkey and Portugal.

In addition to her work in clay, Carhartt also practices printmaking.
