Abraham (Abe) Cohn is known for high fire stoneware pottery. Cohn developed his own glazes and often applied colored slips and carved into leather hard clay on his decorative pots.
Abe Cohn studied with F. Carlton Ball at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and worked out of a studio in Fish Creek, Wisconsin from 1956 onward. Cohn had several solo shows in the Milwaukee area throughout his career as a studio potter, including the Jewish Museum Milwaukee and the Memorial Art Center in Milwaukee.
Cohn was instrumental in making Door County, Wisconsin a destination for pottery collectors and mentored many potters at his studio.
